What Should You Know About the Polish Language Exam?

The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written part of the Polish language exam at the B1 level for adults includes the following components: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, grammatical correctness, and written expression (190 minutes). The oral part of the exam lasts no more than 15 minutes.

 

Before the oral exam, the candidate draws one of the task sets and has a brief preparation time. To pass the B1 level exam for adults, the candidate must achieve at least 50% of the points in each module of the written part and 50% of the points in the oral part.

Exam Duration

The Polish language exam spans two days:

  • April 20, 2024: Written part
  • April 21, 2024: Oral part

Attendance on both days is mandatory.

Registration Period

Exam registration opens two months before the exam date and closes either on the specified date or when the 60-person limit is reached.

Registration for each session begins two months prior to the exam.

Practical Guidelines for Exam Candidates

Candidates are required to arrive punctually for the exam according to the announced schedule.

  1. At the designated time, candidates will enter the examination room one by one.
  2. Each candidate must carry an identity document with a photo: either a passport or a residence card. This document must be presented during registration and when entering the exam room.
  3. During the exam, candidates must:
    • Remain quiet and behave respectfully.
    • Avoid communicating with others.
    • Refrain from using correction fluid.
    • Not write in pencil.
    • Stay in their seats and not leave the examination room.
    • Avoid making loud remarks or comments.

Candidates are required to sign and complete their test papers in the designated areas.

Before Registering for the B1 Exam

One Month Before the Exam – Weekend Exam Techniques Workshop

 

When: Saturday and Sunday, 9:00–12:15

Why:

    • Learn everything about the exam format.
    • Identify your strengths and weaknesses.
    • Understand how to prepare effectively.

 

Additional Support for Candidates

  • Grammar Workshop: Four consecutive Fridays before the exam, 17:30–20:00.
  • Writing Exam Papers Workshop + Speaking Training: Four consecutive Saturdays, 9:00–12:15.

Exam Fees for the Polish Language Certificate (B1 Level)

Exam Fee150 EUR
Certificate Issuance Fee:20 EUR
  • Payment must be transferred within 2 days of registration to the bank account specified in the registration form provided by the exam center.
    Payments are made in Polish zloty (PLN). The amount is converted using the National Bank of Poland's exchange rate indicated in the registration form. Candidates must not perform their own currency conversions.

Important Notes:

  • Admission Priority: Spots are allocated based on the order of payment, not the order of registration.
  • Limited Seats: The number of participants is capped.

Condition for Registration: Only payments successfully processed and confirmed will secure registration. Failure to make a payment results in automatic removal from the participant list.

Refund Policy

If a candidate fails the exam, the exam fee is non-refundable, but the certificate fee will be reimbursed.

If unable to attend the exam for reasons beyond the organizer's control:

    • Notify at least 35 days in advance for a 100% refund.
    • Notify 25–34 days in advance for an 80% refund.
    • No refund is issued for cancellations within 25 days of the exam.
