"re-START" is an idea developed and put into practice by students of the Master's Degree in National Security for the emotional support of the alumni of the Care Center No. 1 in Lodz. The students prepared for their younger friends an integrative meeting with a barbecue, games, and above all, time for sincere conversations with a great deal of kindness.

On June 3, 2023, on the premises of the Lodz Care Center No. 1, second-year students of the Social Academy of Sciences in Lodz conducted a volunteer activity aimed at providing emotional support to the facility's alumni.

Twenty-two master's degree students in National Security and two female psychology students were involved in organizing and carrying out the preventive project. The organizers prepared a barbecue stand for the emergency room's alumni, where the children could eat, but also help prepare food, as well as suggestions for a number of party games and a medical rescue demonstration, in which each child could practice administering pre-medical aid under the guidance of specialists. Student firefighters prepared costumes that children could try on. They talked about their difficult service and shared their knowledge of hazards.

The most important part of the project, however, was the time for conversation. Topics included sports, music, automobiles, but most importantly, frank discussions on many, sometimes difficult, topics initiated by the children.

The great satisfaction for the students was the only positive comments from the alumni after the meeting and the invitation to continue the program.
