Accreditations

The Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) is an independent institution working to ensure and improve the quality of higher education. Its primary objectives include ensuring compliance with quality standards adopted for higher education, aligned with the best practices in the European and global educational space, as well as supporting both public and non-public higher education institutions in improving the quality of teaching and building a culture of quality.

These activities aim to ensure that graduates of Polish higher education institutions achieve a strong position on the national and international labour market, as well as to increase the competitiveness of Polish universities as European institutions.

Currently, programmes are assessed by the PKA based on 10 criteria. Receiving a positive accreditation for a period of six years means that all requirements have been met. Recommendations concerning at least one criterion may result in a shorter accreditation period or a negative evaluation.

PKA evaluation criteria:

Criterion 1. Design of the study programme: concept, educational objectives, and learning outcomes

Criterion 2. Implementation of the study programme: curriculum content, timetable of studies, forms and organisation of classes, teaching methods, professional placements, and organisation of the teaching and learning process

Criterion 3. Admission requirements, verification of students’ achievement of learning outcomes, progression through semesters and years, and graduation process

Criterion 4. Competences, experience, qualifications, and number of teaching staff, as well as their development and improvement

Criterion 5. Infrastructure and educational resources used in programme delivery and their continuous improvement

Criterion 6. Cooperation with the socio-economic environment in designing, implementing, and improving study programmes and its impact on programme development

Criterion 7. Conditions and methods for enhancing the internationalisation of the study programme
