SAN University among the top universities in the results of the Erasmus+ Partnerships for Cooperation in Higher Education competition!

The project “CARE + CONNECT: Delivering Mental Health Supports in Higher Education Institutions across Europe” received a very high score and was approved for funding in the Erasmus+ Higher Education Sector Action 2 - Partnerships for Cooperation (KA220-HED) competition. The project was ranked in a high 9th place out of 178 applications submitted.

The main aim of the ongoing project is to improve the psychological support system in European higher education institutions. This includes the implementation of an online cognitive behavioural therapy tool and the creation of a peer support network. Safe spaces will also be created within the university to foster open conversations about mental health. In addition, the project will organise workshops for students and staff on peer support, active listening, emotional intelligence and psychological first aid.

It is worth mentioning that SAN successfully coordinated a project with a similar theme AWARE Increasing Anxiety awareness in higher education during (post) Covid-19 pandemic, which has been highlighted as an example of good practice and can serve as a source of inspiration for other institutions.
The project envisages the following tasks:

  1. Development of an accessible and evidence-based cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) course.

  2. CONNECT peer programme: development of two structured peer support networks.
SAN University is a project coordinator. The consortium comprises the following partners:

  • University of the Basque Country,  Spain
  • Paderborn University,  Germany
  • University Politehnica of Bucharest,  Romania
  • Spectrum Research Centre CLG  Ireland
  • Institute of development LTD  Cyprus

The submitted proposal is really promising and it refers to the serious problem in the modern world which is a mental health crisis. The priorities (building inclusive higher education systems and inclusion and diversity in all fields of education, training, youth and sport) have been logically and properly selected. Convincing justification of the project contribution to this priority is also provided. Moreover, the project is important in the face of actual geopolitical situation in Europe.
