Prof. Sławomir Wiak, PhD, Eng. (Full Professor), currently a member of staff at the Faculty
of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science and Automation at the Lodz University of Technology (graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Lodz University of Technology – 1973). In 1979, he defended his doctoral thesis entitled “Calculation of transient electromagnetic fields in ferromagnets”. He obtained his habilitation in 1990. The topic of his habilitation thesis was: “Analysis of transient electromagnetic fields using the finite difference method in the magnetic circuits of electromagnetic transducers”. In 2002, he was awarded the title of Professor of Technical Sciences.
Honorary Doctorates: Université d’Artois, Arras, France, and Yaroslav-the-Wise University in Russia.
Administrative roles: Founder and Director of the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems (2007–2023), Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics,
Computer Science and Automation at the Lodz University of Technology (2008–2012), Vice-Rector for Education at the Lodz University of Technology (2012–2016). Rector of the Lodz University of Technology (2016–2020).
Research specialism: engineering and technical sciences (disciplines: technical computing and telecommunications, as well as automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies).
